Bethesda, Md. - Association TRENDS named John Graham, CAE, President and CEO of ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, the TRENDS 2013 Executive of the Year. He will be honored at the TRENDS 2013 Salute to Excellence, February 15 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.

"John is welcomed into a distinguished roster of Association Executives of the Year, and for a host of reasons,” TRENDS Publisher Joel Poznansky said. “Not only has he managed two major associations very successfully in good times and difficult times - engineering often deep strategic changes and improving key member services, but more recently, he has continued to be an example - keeping his staff safe and productive and the wider association community well served during this latest challenging recession."

John became ASAE CEO on August 1, 2003. During the first year of his tenure, ASAE and the former Greater Washington Society of Association Executives completed a historic merger resulting in a new, unified organization. ASAE has more than 21,000 members of association executives and professionals, and industry partners.

Before ASAE, John served the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in Alexandria, Va., for 24 years, the last 13 as CEO. Prior to joining the ADA, John served the Boy Scouts of America for nine years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and is a member of the U.S. Chamber’s Association Committee of 100; Chairman of the Better Business Bureau Mobile Giving Foundation board of directors; and serves on the boards of America’s Promise and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
