Association Business Development Manager 
Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS), a growing provider of training and in-depth data, has a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and entrepreneurially-inclined business development professional who can contribute to our growing Association services business unit by identifying and winning new clients for custom training, data services, and non-dues revenue drivers.

This role requires a consultative business development professional with a proven track record of success in selling professional and/or training services. This person will be responsible for all phases of sales including prospecting, presentations, closing business, and client retention. Our work environment is extremely dynamic, team-based and truly fast-paced. Successful candidates will be fast learners who can think on their feet, manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, and gain access to multiple contacts within an association while maintaining a high level of organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

* Establish and maintain customer relationships, evaluate client needs and present appropriate Association custom training, data services and/or non-dues revenue drivers.

* Handle the entire sales process from the initial call to the close.

* Clearly communicate value proposition and pricing to clients.

* Create wining proposals.

* Work to find creative solutions to benefit both CBIS and the client.

* Meet or exceed your monthly sales goals while hitting your daily activity metrics.

* Serve as partner to the association to identify upsell opportunities, products/services that fit other divisions of the association, and identify needs for new product and service opportunities.

Qualifications:

* Strong networking skills

* Excellent communication skills via telephone and email

* Eagerness to learn about our market-leading products and how they answer our customers' needs

* Success in selling professional and/or training services

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

* Effective closing skills

* Superior time management and organizational skills

* Punctual, confident, team-oriented, self-motivated and energetic

* Experience working in Salesforce preferred but not required

This is a full-time position, reporting primarily to the managing director of our Association division, and pays a competitive base salary plus commission. Benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage, 3 weeks paid vacation plus 9 holidays, the opportunity to invest in a 401(k). Our offices are three blocks from the Bethesda Metro, and staffers who commute on Metro get a $100/month subsidy. During the summer, Bethesda staff can work a schedule that gives them every other Friday off.

Marketing & Sales Intern
Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS), a dynamic and growing information services company is seeking a marketing and sales intern at our Bethesda office. This position would support the marketing teams across our nine industry divisions. Interns will gain invaluable experience with a diverse segment of marketing and sales channels.

Responsibilities

*Assist marketing teams with developing, updating, and coordinating email marketing automation campaigns, direct mail and web ads

*Assist marketing team with social media coordination and posting

*Work registration and coordination at various conferences and events run by CBIS

*Conduct event marketing calling campaigns inviting prospects to attend our events

*Respond to client and prospect inquiries

Susbscription Sales Representative
Columbia Books & Information Services, a growing provider of compliance information, training and in-depth data, has a fantastic opportunity for a results-driven, entrepreneurial Inside Sales/Renewal Sales professional. This position is for you if you are a proven closer, thrive on working the phones, and love engaging with people. You'll be contacting current customers to renew their subscriptions to our market-leading print and digital subscription compliance resources. When it comes to prospecting, our products have high name recognition as sources of authoritative, mission-critical information.

You'll also have the support of a team of marketing and product development people who will help you understand the needs of the customer and how our products satisfy those needs. You'll also be part of the team that develops new products and services so you'll always have more to sell to our current clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

* Establish and maintain customer relationships in your assigned product lines, which may include Controlled Substance, Energy, FDA, Finance, and Government Contracting

* Evaluate client needs and present appropriate subscription products as solutions

* Participate in cross-sell and up-sell campaigns to existing clients as well as renewal calling campaigns

* Conduct product demos for prospective clients requesting product trials

* Handle the entire sales process from the initial call to the close

* Clearly communicate to clients our terms of offer and pricing; generate proposals as needed

* Meet or exceed your monthly sales goals while hitting your daily activity metrics

* Serve as account manager after the sale to handle customer inquiries and spot upsell opportunities

 

Qualifications:

* At least one year of inside sales experience--experience selling subscriptions a plus

* Excellent communication skills via telephone and email

* Eagerness to learn about our market-leading products and how they answer our customers' needs

* Outgoing personality

* Effective closing skills

* Superior time management and organizational skills

* Punctual, confident, team-oriented, self-motivated and energetic

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

* Experience working in Salesforce preferred but not required

This is a full-time position, although if part-time works better for you, we'll consider that, too. You'll report primarily to the Head of Controlled Substances, Energy, FDA and Grants Divisions. The job pays a competitive base salary plus commissions.
